Sneak Peak of What’s in the Garden Center this Spring

Our garden center opens April 1st! No joking here!

We’re so excited for spring gardening in Ohio!  Here’s a sneak peak of what’s in our garden center this spring. We have spiller plants, filler flowers, window box flowers, container flowers, and just about every color of flower you can imagine.

All of our flowers are locally-grown (Ohio proud!), and everything below will be in stock on April 1st.

Begonias

Pink begonia flowers

Begonias are some of the most popular plants, and have over 2,000 species and hybrids.  See our guide for how to take care of begonias so that your begonias thrive and last.

Calibrachoa

Calibrachoa are prolific bloomers that look like baby petunias. They are flowers that attract hummingbirds and butterflies partly because of their trumpet-like shape.

They have compact leaves and their flowers come in a variety of colors.  You can also find them in solids, two-tones, patterns, stripes, and double blooms.

Calibrachoa are great as container plants because they can “spill” over the rim, giving a lush and colorful feel to any garden.

Geraniums

Geraniums are known for their unique fragrance, which is citrus with a hint of rose.  If you’re looking for good-smelling flowers, then geraniums are the way to go.  They are great as container flowers or bedding flowers.

Geraniums have kidney-shaped leaves that may look ruffled.  These flowers can be pink, orange, white, red, and purple, and they can be solid or bi-color.

Their long bloom period makes them perfect for window boxes, hanging baskets, or pots to create your perfect front porch flower display.

Lantana

Lantanas are adorable flowers that come in small, bright clusters.  Think of them as mini pompom flowers.  They come in a variety of colors including pink, yellow, white, orange, and purple.  Check out our bi-color lantanas that look like ombre flowers.

Lantanas attract pollinators.  In particular, hummingbirds enjoy lantanas’ tubular shapes.  However, deer don’t like these flowers.

Lantanas are long-blooming flowers that need full sun. They are also drought-tolerant and they are wonderful spiller plants (they “spill” over the rim of a container).  They are also great window box flowers, hanging basket flowers, and filler plants.

Marigold

Yellow march marigold flowers that are native to Ohio

Marigolds grow well in Ohio.  In fact, one of Ohio’s native wildflowers is the marsh marigold.  Plant marigolds in Ohio after the last frost, or start these flowers from seeds inside your home.

Marigolds have beautiful, eye-catching yellow flowers and are low maintenance.  They are also flowers that attract butterflies and native bees as well as other pollinators.

Ranunculus

If you want to create a garden of intrigue and wonder, then ranunculus is your flower.  Ranunculus look like they belong in Alice in Wonderland and are amazing flowers for weddings.  They thrive around water features and ponds, and you can plant ranunculus in Ohio in April.
